Back to School!
When the AA interviewed parents about the school run, 56% of them reported that things were pretty chaotic in the roads around their children's schools at dropping off and picking up times. 91 % said there wasn't an effective school traffic management at the school. Does that chime with your experience?
I was surprised (but shouldn't have been) by the amount of traffic on my first outing after schools had been permitted to reopen, and that made me think that many parents would be plunged into the chaos after months of not being exposed to 'normal' driving conditions. The AA had some suggestions to avoid the road crush:
- Walk or cycle (Hmm, not sure abut the safety of that)
- A walking bus - this is where grous of childrenjoin up under the surpervision of a couple of parents and walk to school
- Park further away from the school
- Share lifts with other parents
